Trio

My friend Erin is pregnant and expecting her third baby girl soon. So the Crafty Club ladies and I decided to 'surprise' her with homemade baby/mama gifts at our last Crafty Club night! My friend Sarah who hosted last month's festivities still planned a regular craft for us to do (see the last photo) but then we surprised Erin with pink food & drinks and our homemade gifts :)

There were lots of things I wanted to make for her, but most of them involved sewing. And sewing isn't an option for me right now because a) I lack skills in the sewing department and b) it would have taken me forever just to sew one straight line. So I wanted to make something that was pretty, quite simple and didn't involve sawing or sewing anything!

I perused Pinterest and decided to make some girly headbands for the new baby. There are a ton of DIY headband ideas out there. I looked at hundreds of ideas, went and bought some supplies and then 'winged it' as I went along. I made three of them. Here they are:

Here's a list of supplies I used between the 3 of them:
Scissors, pencil
A hot glue gun + glue sticks
1 pink & 1 green 9x12in sheet of felt
Assortment of buttons
Grey stretchy cotton fabric
Pink ruffle trim

Here's the first one I made. I used felt/ruffle ribbon/button/elastic band:

The underside of these are going to be up against a precious little baby's noggin,
so I fastened a soft circle of felt on each one.

Here's the second one.
I used the grey stretchy fabric to make the band/aqua gauzy fabric/both colors of ruffle trim:

And the third one. I used buttons/both colors of felt/elastic band:

I hope Erin and future Baby E enjoy these :)

Here are a few photos of the pink food we all brought along & surprised her with:

And this is the craft we did that evening. Sarah printed photos of our children (which we sent to her via email ahead of time) onto fabric. We then embroidered colorful accents on them (like a bow tie or hair bow or flower). Mine are not finished yet, but I'll share some photos once I'm done.

I'd love to make more of these headbands. I'm planning on making some for Chloe when I find the time. If you're interested in one, two, or all three of these, send me a message & make me an offer :)

Half birthday

How did our sweet little girl turn 6 months old already? Seriously!

1 month
"I'll sit here for 5 seconds, but then you better pick me back up again, mom."
2 months
"I am so tired I could win a staring contest."
3 months
"I'm gonna tip over..."
4 months
"This thumb tastes pretty darn good!"

5 months
"If I put my hands out like this I can sit up on my own a little."
6 months on October 9th
"I'm a half-a-year old already! And I am LOVING this tongue thing."

We look forward to the next 6 months, little peanut!

Almost 4 months old

Chloe was born almost four months ago already! Where did the time go? Seriously.

She has changed so much already. She's rolling from back to tummy, and from tummy to back. She'll giggle and even laugh if you tickle her in just the right spots. She has this cute little smile where her mouth turns up more to the right side. She definitely has Matt's chin and my eyebrows. She loves staring at her brother and he can get her to smile more than Matt or I. She sleeps really good (I nurse her only once throughout the night now, usually between 3:00 and 5:00am). And she farts and poops like a grown man. She keeps us on our toes and her unique little personality is really starting to shine. We love her so much.

I meant to post some of the photos my friend Sarah (www.sarahdohertyphotography.com) took sooner than this. But I guess later is better than never, right? She took these photos when Chloe was just two weeks old:

She caught her smiling in this photo :)

She looks so much like Liam when he was 2-weeks old

And here is the birth announcement I made, in case you didn't see it:

Thank you, Sarah, for taking such memorable photos of our little peanut :)

On any given weekday there are a number of things that happen pretty routinely in our home -- a dozen diapers changed, three meals and two snacks prepared and baths given before bedtime. And then there are the 'extra' things that we accomplish (if we're lucky), such as me writing this blog post :) I thought it'd be interesting to keep track, for one day, of the things that happen here at our house. Big boy bedroom

I thought I'd share a few quick photos of Liam's "big boy bedroom" as we call it. He absolutely loves his new room and his twin bed. He's been in this new room for almost a month now and hasn't even looked back at his old room! It really surprised us that he would adjust so well (I hope I'm not jinxing it by saying this). Soon his old room will be filled with a crying, cooing, burping baby. I wonder if he'll get jealous when the "newbie" is in his old room? I guess we'll find out shortly...

Anyways...here are a few photos of his travel/map/world themed room. There are a few things I want to get done in here yet (hang a clock, hang some canvass art, organize the closet better, etc). And I didn't have the energy to set up the room to look all spectacular for the photos. So I'm only posting the ones that I thought looked fairly cute :)

Here's a little banner I made out of old maps and ribbon...

It took me forever to find this duvet cover online. It was sold out from Pottery Barn Kids, but I found it for half the price and brand new on EBay :)

This little red airplane pillow was my "inspiration piece" for his bedroom...

Matt and I are a bit obsessed with VW's so we thought we'd share our love with Liam...

Liam got this cool canvass from some friends for his birthday. And the old little yellow VW -- that was mine and my brothers' from when we were little :)

A couple of shelves above his bed...

Night stand and lamp are a must...

You can never have too many books...

Trucks and globes and dinosaur banks...

One half of the room...

Little man hat...

 Liam's friends...

A touch of vintage...

Trying to be organized...

Marking on the map where he's all been...

I asked Liam to smile for the camera in his big boy room and this is what I got...a shy little boy! What a little stinker!
