Pots de basil

A friend of mine recently moved into a new home with her hubby and two kids. And last week she hosted July Crafty Club in her new digs :)

One of the Crafty Club ladies came up with a great idea a few weeks ago --- to shower our friend with housewarming gifts when we showed up at her house for Crafty Club last week!

We all started brainstorming (and Pinteresting) ideas for cool homemade housewarming gifts. Each of us created something totally unique and brought it along with us the night of Crafty Club.

I'll share all of the homemade gifts the ladies made in another post, but for the time being I'll just share with you what I made for my friend.

I went the 'simple' route because the only time I had to make this was the day before Crafty Club & while the kids were napping (I procrastinated...big surprise).

I used painters tape to create a simple design on a cute little pot and then plopped a plant into it. Easy and inexpensive.

I found a cute 6" clay pot at Menards on sale for $1.50.

And picked up an organic, locally grown Basil plant at our farmers market for $2.50.

I used painters tape to create a simple design on the pot.

And taped around the inside of the pot so the paint didn't drip inside.

I used indoor wall paint (from a sample pot of the wall color in our kitchen - Mountain Haze).

The painting took no longer than 2 minutes to do & it covered really well.

I made copies of two of my favorite Basil-induced recipes to attach to the plant:
and

Here's the finished pot.

With recipes attached.

The plant was welcomed with open arms, as I found out she loves Basil!

And it only cost me $4.00 because I already had the painters' tape, paint, soil and recipe cards :)

Bustling around

Just a few things that made me smile over the last week and a half...

Both kids napping at the same time!!
That's Chloe's monitor on the left and Liam's video monitor on the right.

My niece playing softball. She made it to first base on this hit,
then scored a run later on.

My nephew playing in a jazz concert at Fountain Park
And Liam dancing to the tunes.

Chloe's first trip to the Farmers Market.

These beauties at the market.

A polka band consisting of high school boys.
(I wonder if they'd play in our backyard for cheap?)

Liam playing outside in some dinosaur underwear.
Attempting to potty train.

Out for a family walk. A quadruple selfie. Sorry Chloe, can't really see you.

A few love notes from my hubbie left around the house :)

Seven years in Duet

Matt and I were married seven years ago today.
Every day I'm thankful to have him by my side.
I look forward to seven more years.
And seven more after that...

A few photos from the day we vowed to each other "hey, I want to wake up next
to you every day for the rest of my life!" :

Sweet Caroline, you were only seven years old in this photo!

Matt wrote me a sweet little letter, which I read before the ceremony.

Both my mom and Matt's mom had daisies in their wedding bouquets,
so I thought it'd be cool to have some daisies in mine too :)

My mom walked me down the aisle (since my dad was gone already).
I love you mom.

Together. Forever.

Our wedding party.

We gave all of our guests a tree sapling as a gift.
Many people still have these trees growing in their yards to this day!

This is a good photo to post to represent the 'end' of the reception...

It feels like this was just yesterday...
I love you Matt!
