A trip to the pumpkin farm - 2016

Last week we took our annual family trip to the local pumpkin farm. We pet & fed some goats, searched for 'the best pumpkins,' as Liam called them, and enjoyed the fresh autumn air.

Chloe was obsessed with the goats...

No room for Liam in the wagon this time...

Happy belated boo!!

Halloween passed by so quick this year. I feel like I just put up the Halloween decorations, and now I'm taking them down already. The trick or treaters are long gone. And the carved pumpkins are starting to rot...

It was fun while it lasted though! Liam dressed up as Nemo and Chloe as Madeline.

My mother-in-law stayed at our house on Halloween so she could hand out candy while we took Liam trick or treating (it was too cold and windy for Chloe to go with us, so we left her with Nana). Liam actually "got" the whole concept of trick-or-treating this year (unlike last year) so he thought it was pretty cool.

We only lasted a 1/2 an hour outside, but when we got back home he loved handing out candy to the 400+ kids (just like last year). His patience and diligence surprised me. He plopped a piece of candy in the bags of each each ghost and Elsa and zombie, totally unfazed by the creepiness of some of the costumes. That's my boy :)

We attended a Halloween party on Friday night after trick or treat was done, as well as hosted a couple of friends & their kids to an outdoor treasure hunt/tiny pumpkin decorating/chicken noodle soup eating affair at our home on Saturday night.

Will bellies full of too much candy & cookies, I'd say Halloween 2014 was a success.

I didn't get around to posting a photo of the kids in their costumes on Facebook (and I've had a few requests to see photos) so here they are:

Liam liked the guts. He liked the smell of them too.
(Personally, I think pumpkin guts smell like barf.)

"Madeline"

"Nemo"

My pumpkin, Matt/Liam's pumpkin, Chloe's pumpkin.

At our neighbor's house - see the eyes in the windows?

Liam and his friend, Cole.

And a few photos from the little gathering we had at our house.

I hope you all enjoyed your extra hour of insert whatever you did here this weekend!

On golden pond

Some things that made me smile in the past couple of weeks:
(basically, a bunch of photos of the kids!)

Liam hanging out in the trees at my grandma's house.
I'm so grateful he loves & appreciates the outdoors.

The pond near my mom's house. Every year I look forward to
seeing the trees' reflection in this pond.

These tiny pumpkins I placed by my dad's gravestone with Liam & Chloe's names
on them. It may seem odd that this made me smile...but I feel peaceful after I visit
his grave (after feeling sad and bummed out of course). It's quiet & peaceful at
the cemetery and I feel like he's close to me/watching over me when I'm there.

This little peanut in the stroller, out for a walk.

And this little man, insisting that he walk instead of ride in the stroller.

Seeing my nephew hang out with Chloe on my mom's living room floor.
He's a high school boy, so you think he'd be 'too cool' to hang out with family, right?
But that's not the case at all. He has so much love for his family and younger cousins.
I'm grateful that Chloe and Liam have my nephew Tim to look up to some day!

Chloe and my nephew Hudson, just chillin' out. Pooping. Burping. Sleeping.
How cool that they'll be growing up together so close in age :)

Seeing my brother Nate and niece Bella ride on my mom's lawn mower together.
It reminds me so much of when I would ride on the lawn mower with
my dad when I was Bella's age!

Our mantel, decorated for Halloween.

Liam so proud of his pumpkin.

A vintage globe that Liam got from his Nana. I'm lovin' it.

That's it for now...

Enjoy the remaining days of October folks!
