Chalk it up

I started a pastel painting for my friend this week:

My pastels have been waiting patiently, for three years.

I love picking out the colors I'm going to use.

The photograph that my friend picked out.

Mood lighting.

I broke out the good ol' pencil, eraser and ruler.

I drew the flowers onto a textured pastel paper.

All ready to start "painting" the chalk onto the paper with my fingers.

Butterfinger Bites make my work go smoother.

I look forward to sharing the progress of this painting in the weeks to come.

And last, but not least, the most IMPORTANT artwork of the week: Liam's first crayon drawing!! He was more interested in 'tasting' each different colored crayon than actually drawing. But it's a start!
